The cultural shift towards Black rock

At last weekend’s launch of BoldasLIVE, I reiterated a case I’ve been building over the most of this year that Black rock is manifesting itself in contemporary culture in the way that’s not been seen before.  As someone who’s attuned to it, I feel a buzz coming out of this community.

What’s more, as I talk to people involved in this community or, at least, in related areas of endeavor such as music journalism or performance poetry or visual art, we all agree that there’s something going on that we can’t quite put our fingers on.

While I agree that there are several forces at play, the one that will become increasingly relevant to the African American community—and hence to popular culture overall—is Black rock.
