I’m finally getting this posted. This past February 28th, I had the honor of participating in a panel discussion on the artist Faith Ringgold and her inspiration from, and impact on, Harlem. I was in conversation with artist Nari Ward, writer and historian Sharifa Rhodes-Pitts, and fellow arts leader Sandra Jackson-Dumont. The conversation was moderated by the New Museum’s Gary Carrion-Murayari, who co-curated the Faith Ringgold career retrospective that is currently on view. Such an incredibly thoughtful group.
I stuck to my knitting, which was to focus my remarks on Faith’s impact and influence on the Sugar Hill Children’s Museum. I come in around 38:06.
